Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Victor C. Johnson to its Intellectual Property Group as a member in the firm’s Dallas Office. Prior to joining Dykema, Johnson was a Principal at the Yarbrough Law Group (YLG), where he was head of the Intellectual Property Litigation and Brand Protection Group.
Johnson has extensive experience in all aspects of complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on patent, trademark, brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, and trade secret misappropriation, as well as domain name disputes and other forms of unfair competition. Throughout his career he has been the lead lawyer on a wide variety of business litigation and intellectual property disputes for companies ranging in size from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
The arrival of Johnson in Dallas emphasizes the firm’s latest step in strengthening the firm’s presence in the Texas market, following Dykema opening the Austin office in early July. Within the last year, the firm has also added ten new attorneys to the Texas offices. These include, John Dickey in the firm’s Corporate Group; Alison Ashmore, Steven Baker and Kevin Teters in the Business Litigation Group; Ed Tomko and Jason Ross in the White Collar Criminal Defense and Internal Investigations Group; Kim Kiplin in the Regulated Industries Group; and Drew McEwen and Kevin Oldham in the Tax Controversy and Litigation Group.
“The arrival of Victor combined with the recent arrivals of the ten attorneys that have joined the firm’s Texas offices this year, reinforces the firm’s commitment to advance our presence here through the additions of high-quality laterals across a number of strategic practice groups,” said Bill Finkelstein, Managing Member of Dykema’s Texas offices.
“Victor’s trademark litigation and brand protection and enforcement experience will be an important asset in serving our existing clients,” added Allan Sternstein, Director of Dykema’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. “Victor will also be instrumental in helping us expand our IP Litigation practice in Texas, and in expanding our first-chair litigation capability. We welcome him to the firm.”
Before joining YLG, Johnson was a Principal with the national law firm Fish & Richardson PC for eleven years. Johnson is licensed to practice in Texas and Louisiana and is a member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association, IPO Anti-Counterfeiting & Anti-Piracy Committee.
He received a B.A from the University of New Mexico, and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in New Orleans.
