Mary Beth L. McGowan

Government Policy Advisor

Mary Beth acts as the eyes and ears on the ground in Washington for her clients. She is a trusted advisor and strong, savvy advocate for her clients’ key messages to policymakers and their staff. Mary Beth works with corporations, trade associations, and local governments to understand their federal government relations goals and help them successfully navigate both Congress and the Executive Branch. She develops and implements legislative strategies for her clients, identifies funding opportunities, and connects them with key contacts throughout the federal government.

Mary Beth honed her legislative skills working on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA). Since 2008, she has represented Dykema federal government relations clients on a range of issues including clean air and water, tax and trade, supply chains, federal procurement policy, the appropriations process, and federal budgetary matters.

While it may not seem like much gets done in Washington, Mary Beth is adept at shepherding clients’ nuanced issues through the legislative and regulatory processes, notching incremental wins that make a difference.
