Dykema, a leading national law firm, announced that Asel Lindsey was selected by the State Bar of Texas (SBOT) to be a member of the 2022-23 class of LeadershipSBOT.
Created in 2008 by then SBOT President Harper Estes, LeadershipSBOT is designed to increase diverse leadership participation within the legal community through the nomination of lawyers who possess both the desire and the potential to assume leadership roles in their communities and the State Bar of Texas.
LeadershipSBOT participants will examine what is expected of leaders and, with the advice and guidance of current leaders, discover how to best engage in public involvement to be effective in the profession and in the community. The year-long program consists of two training sessions and concludes with the presentation of group projects during the State Bar Annual Meeting.
In her practice, Lindsey specializes in federal tax, international tax, state and local tax and tax controversy matters, with a focus on transactional practice including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. She advises on a broad range of tax matters involving flow-through entities, including partnerships, limited liability companies and S corporations.
Lindsey joined the Tax Section of the Texas Bar and the International Tax Committee of the Texas Bar, where she regularly participates and presents CLE programs. She also is active in the Commercial Real Estate Network (CREW) of San Antonio. In addition, Lindsey is committed to pro bono work and community service, serving on the Board of the Heart of America Tax Institute. She has been active with the Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, assisting on a pro bono basis to clients with tax needs. Lindsey was recently asked to join the board of the International School of San Antonio.
Lindsey received a L.L.M from New York University School of Law, a J.D. from Washburn University School of Law, and a B.S. from Georgetown University.
Dykema’s Danielle Rushing was a member of the 2020-21 class of LeadershipSBOT, followed by Ryan Borelo in the 2021-22 class.
