Brian Colao Discusses COVID-19 Related HR and Labor Law Considerations in Dental Podcast

Brian A. Colao, Dallas-based member and Director of Dykema’s Dental Service Organizations (DSO) Industry Group, was featured in the TUSK Partners Podcast episode titled, “COVID-19-related HR & Labor Law Considerations.” Colao was the first non-Tusk guest to appear on the program and was introduced as having “experience unrivaled in the industry.”

Colao, who was introduced as having “experience unrivaled in the industry,” emphasized that the dental industry, though currently stunned by COVID-19, is resilient and (1) will recover as soon as the government lifts restrictions and (2) will be aided by the passage of the stimulus package. In the meantime, employees are protected by legislation including the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and employers are encouraged to seek advice and use their “best judgment” in dealing with layoffs versus furloughs.

In closing, Colao advises businesses to “Make logic-based decisions not emotion-based decisions.”
