Mike Carey, Daniela Gonzales Aldape, and Mickey Stevens will each serve as featured speakers at the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section's (TIPS) 2024 Motor Vehicle Product Liability Litigation Conference taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona, from April 11-12.
Carey’s session, “Defense Wins, Plaintiff Wins! Recent Verdicts & Legal Trends,” will cover what every products lawyer needs to know about the developing legal issues in automotive products litigation - from recent verdicts seen in trial courts to key appellate decisions.
Aldape’s session, “Trial Masters: Trying Advanced Technology Focused Claims,” will cover key considerations in trying cases involving alleged failures of advanced driver assist systems, the evolution of theories surrounding automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, pedestrian/bicycle detection, rollaway risks, and other technology-focused theories - from jury selection to evidence presentation and closing arguments.
Stevens' presentation focused on utilizing statistical risk analysis of crash data in automotive litigation.
