A group of Chicago-based Dykema lawyers—including Debbie Clark, (member, Corporate Finance), Bob Linton (leader of the Firm's Real Estate practice), Mike Kurtzon (member, Real Estate) and Mark Weisbard (member, Taxation)—hosted several Dykema clients in celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Wrigley Field at the 4th Annual Bricks and Ivy Ball, benefiting Chicago Cubs Charities.
This year’s event—held on April 23, 2014 at The Field Museum—was particularly significant in that it coincided with the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Wrigley Field, the Cubs' iconic ballpark. Earlier in the day, Dykema had hosted clients at the game which (as has happened so many times over the past century) the home team lost in spectacular fashion: blowing a three-run lead in the 9th inning.
The charity event—themed “Party of the Century”—attracted more than 800 dignitaries, business leaders and philanthropists. Through its silent and live auctions, the event is expected to raise more than $1.4 million for Chicago-area children. Community outreach programs supported by Chicago Cubs Charities include initiatives to increase access to youth sports, and to improve health, fitness and education among at-risk young people.
