Two members of Dykema’s national Real Estate Practice Group—Jason Grinnell (Los Angeles), and Dan Schairbaum (Detroit)—recently spoke at the 44th Annual International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) U.S. Shopping Center Law Conference held in Orlando, Florida from October 22-25, 2014. This conference is one of the nation’s most prestigious and longest-running industry events with over 1,200 in-house and outside counsel in attendance.
The subject of Grinnell’s seminar presentation was “Greening of Retail: Smart Investment or Mere Marketing Fluff?” which addressed hot topics like sustainability and green leasing, LEED certifications for retail developments and renewable energy installations in shopping centers.
The theme of Schairbaum’s roundtable presentation was “Tenant Build Out Issues.” The roundtables are a unique elements of the ISCS Law Conference. Designed as informal exchanges among the industry’s top professionals, the conversations are often lively as well as thought-provoking.
