Dykema Records Another Record Year For M&A Deal Volume

We are pleased to announce that 2022 marked another record year for our M&A practice.

All told, we closed 134 transactions for the year, up slightly from the 130 deals we closed last year. We represented sellers and buyers almost equally, closing 70 sell-side deals and 64 buy side deals. Our average deal size during 2022 was $17,000,000, down a bit from prior years, but still in line with our middle market footprint.

We represented clients in 18 different industries and closed multiple deals in each of the following: DSO/MSO, Other Healthcare, Professional Sports, Technology, Funeral/Cemetery Services, Automotive, Industrial Equipment, and Financial Services. Our industry-leading DSO/MSO practice has continued to explode with 92 transactions closed in this industry segment.

We now turn our attention to 2023 with questions, including: Will inflation be in the rear-view mirror by the end of this year? Will the re-emergence of China out of its pandemic lock-down help to jump start the global economy? Will interest rate increases begin to impact middle market companies to a greater degree than they have thus far? How will any of this impact the middle market M&A market?
