Dykema, a leading national law firm, is pleased to announce that it has secured a $1.3 million jury verdict to reimburse its client, American Patriot Ranch, for attorneys’ fees and costs following four years of litigation and a two-day jury trial in Wise County, Texas.

The trial victory follows Dykema defeating $50 million in substantive claims against American Patriot Ranch through motions practice and pre-trial procedures. The litigation stemmed from limestone mining rights on American Patriot Ranch, a sanctuary and retreat near Decatur, Texas, for war veterans and their families known for its natural beauty and serves as a habitat for thousands of wild and exotic animals.

At trial, the opposing party argued that the fee award should be limited to $400,000, but the jury, in a near-unanimous decision, sided with Dykema’s presentation of the evidence, citing Dykema’s thoroughness and preparedness as a key factor in its decision.

The Dykema trial team was led by Israel Silvas and included Cliff Riley, Salvador Robles, and paralegal Keanna Wiggins. The team was also supported by Alan Powers and Scott Lindsey from Boyd Powers & Williamson. The broader litigation team also included Dykema attorneys Tara Kern, Caroline Lawhorn, Maria McIntyre, and staff members Kathy Lowery and Crystal Morales.
