Westlaw Journal – Insurance Coverage
Thomas B. Alleman, Dallas-based member in Dykema’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group and Director of the Firm’s Insurance Industry Group, contributed the article “Hurricanes, Recovery and Insurance” to the Westlaw Journal - Insurance Coverage.
In his sobering article, Alleman describes the factors which render comprehensive flood insurance coverage for a natural disaster impossible. Among the insurmountable obstacles are the huge numbers of people affected by a single disaster, the geographic concentration of the destruction, the long-term effects of water damages, and the limited protection afforded by the National Flood Insurance Program and by FEMA.
