Let’s Be Safe Out There (Workplace Violence)
Events
5.03.19
Thankfully workplace violence is not a common occurrence in most workplaces. That said, the threat is ever present and even one act may have horrifying consequences. Though not to be down played, the catastrophic events that receive wide spread media attention are not what employers commonly encounter. What employers do see with some regularity is non-employees threatening employees with whom they have a relationship, such as an angry, potentially violent ex-spouse. Employers must also be concerned with clients, customers and patients that may become frustrated and become aggressive with employees. Sadly, employers must also be prepared to deal with employees threatening or actually committing suicide and the related impact on the workforce. Of course, internal conflict among employees is ever present and supervisors need to know how to identify and prevent violent behavior.
- Sources of employer liability related to workplace violence
- How much do policies help prevent or limit acts of aggression
- What types of training should front line managers receive
- How to respond to the many ways workplace violence may occur
- Interactive discussion and sample scenarios will be used
