The Michigan Supreme Court’s July 31, 2024 decision in Mothering Justice v. Attorney General has triggered massive changes to Michigan’s Minimum Wage and Paid Sick Leave laws that go into effect on February 21, 2025. Under the laws that will go into effect that day, the minimum wage will increase significantly, likely to over $12.50 per hour, and will be adjusted annually going forward. And the Earned Sick Time Act will require all employers, regardless of size, to provide paid time off to employees for a variety of reasons, often with little or no notice or proof regarding the need for leave to be taken. These laws will require all employers to review their existing policies to ensure they will be in compliance with the new laws and, in most cases, will require significant revisions to bring organizations into compliance with statutes’ new obligations.
Join Sean Darke and Jim Hermon for an hour long webinar that will explore the changes that are coming, and provide some solutions for employers confronted with the need to comply with these newly-revived laws.
