Mentoring Diverse Attorneys: Developing Your Program From First Year to Partnership

Joanne Zimolzak will serve as a featured panelist for the International Association of Defense Counsel event, "Mentoring Diverse Attorneys: Developing Your Program From First Year to Partnership." This presentation and discussion will focus on helpful advice and best practices for mentoring diverse attorneys, particularly if your mentee has a different background than you. Topics covered will include:

• an overview of legal challenges faced by law firms and companies in implementing and maintaining diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) initiatives;
• the impacts of implicit bias; and
• advice that is specific to particular diverse groups; and activities and memberships that law firms and companies can sponsor to help underrepresented individuals feel more of a sense of belonging.
