One Week Into Michigan’s Lame Duck… Tension, Disagreement, and the Art of What Is Possible

The first week of the lame duck legislative session saw long caucus meetings, leadership for the 2025-26 session selected, and even some tensions boiling over among members… but in terms of actual issues, only one major lame duck issue was addressed in those first three days (Data Center tax incentives). With three weeks of lame duck remaining, it begs the question, what really is possible before the end of 2024?
