Phyllis Adams Named A “Leader in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly

Phyllis G. Adams, Ann Arbor-based member in Dykema’s Health Care Practice, was named one of 30 “Leaders in the Law” for 2018 by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. A luncheon celebrating the honorees will be held April 5, 2018, at the Detroit Marriott Troy, where the publication will announce the 2018 “Lawyer of the Year.”
Adams' practice is devoted to representation of clients in the health care sector with respect to corporate and regulatory issues, including long-term care and assisted living facilities, continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), ambulatory surgery centers, and hospitals. In particular, her practice focuses on certificate of need issues, health facility acquisitions and other changes of ownership, including related licensure and Medicare/Medicaid certification matters, CCRC registrations, long-term care/skilled nursing facility management and operating agreements, assisted living licensure matters, and health care joint ventures.
Adams has also held leadership positions with Dykema, formerly serving as the firm’s Health Care Practice Group Leader, and also as a member of the firm’s Executive Board. She also works closely with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, in addition to serving as a volunteer member of the Legal Committee of LeadingAge, a national trade association in the nursing home industry. Adams also regularly serves as legal counsel to LeadingAge’s Michigan affiliate. In that role, she provides technical assistance and policy guidance on existing and new legislation, regulations, court cases and other developments affecting aging services providers.
