Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of Dana White and James Sargent, each as Senior Counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. White joins Dykema’s Bloomfield Hills office, while Sargent will reside in the firm’s Dallas office.
White joins Dykema from McDonald Hopkins LLC. Her practice covers a broad spectrum of commercial real estate disciplines, focusing on industrial, office, multifamily, luxury residential, and retail development. She represents real estate developers, investors, and owner/operators in acquisitions and dispositions, construction and development, construction and acquisition financing, and negotiating real estate joint ventures. White also has extensive experience negotiating office, retail, restaurant, and industrial leases nationally for both landlords and tenants.
Before her legal career, White worked at a civil engineering firm specializing in transportation, where she focused on complex proposal coordination and submission for privately funded projects and those funded at the local, state, and federal levels.
White earned a J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a B.A. from Indiana University.
Sargent joins Dykema after operating his own firm, the Law Office of James W. Sargent, for nearly a decade. Earlier in his career, he practiced at international law firms K&L Gates and Vinson & Elkins. Sargent’s practice focuses on the representation of borrowers and lenders in connection with multiple types of loan facilities and secured transactions, including commercial loans, asset-based loans, and real estate acquisition and development loans.
He also has experience representing creditors in bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings and negotiations involving analysis of cash flows, liquidation values, going-concern values, debtor-in-possession financings, chapter 11 reorganizations, and confirmation plans.
Sargent earned a J.D. and M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and a B.S. from Kansas State University.
“Dana and Jim’s respective practices and experience complement Dykema’s robust Real Estate team,” said Kyle Hauberg, Director of Dykema’s Real Estate and Environmental Department. “We’re thrilled to add them to our talented roster, which will allow us to continue providing excellent client service.”
