Shannon Mckeon Joins Dykema

Dykema, a leading national law firm, announces that Shannon Marie McKeon has joined the firm as an associate in the Intellectual Property Department. Ms. McKeon’s practice covers all aspects of intellectual property law, particularly trademarks and branding. Prior to joining Dykema, Ms McKeon worked as a trademark paralegal and law clerk, during which she acquired substantive knowledge and experience on a wide variety of trademark practice areas including prosecution and maintenance of U.S. and international trademark applications and registrations, enforcement of trademark rights, domain name/Internet related issues and opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Ms. McKeon has developed experience in domain name/Internet law and the procedural aspects associated with this integral aspect of trademark practice. She has worked with numerous domain name registrars (e.g., GoDaddy and Network Solutions) to implement and complete domain name transfers for many clients. In addition, Ms. McKeon has helped draft and prosecute numerous complaints under ICANN’s Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy, resulting in the transfer of many valuable domain names to a wide variety of clients.

In addition, Ms. McKeon has been a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) Internet Committee since January 2008 where she has drafted comments and white papers regarding the regulation of the domain name system and other Internet-related matters, including the roll-out of the new gTLDs. The Internet Committee is one of INTA's busiest, most important and high profile Committees because it is focused on evaluating and formulating opinions and legislation addressing the misuse of trademarks in cyberspace, a constantly evolving area of trademark law.

A resident of Arlington, VA, Ms. McKeon received a B.A. from George Mason University and a J.D. from The Catholic University Columbus School of Law.
