Tania Shapiro-Barr Discusses Upcoming Patent Legislation with Law360

Tania Shapiro-Barr, M.D., Minneapolis-based Senior Attorney in Dykema’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, was quoted in the Law360 article, “Patent Legislation To Watch In 2020,” which examined possible new limits on pharmaceutical patents, an overhaul on patent eligibility law, and Congressional response to the Federal Circuit’s October 31 decision saying the structure of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board is unconstitutional.

Shapiro-Barr stressed the need to balance the limit on pharmaceutical patents with not deterring innovation in an effort to keep drug prices reasonable. She also weighed in on recent Supreme Court decisions regarding patent eligibility law and a possible Congressional response.
