A. Joseph Duffy, IV

Associate

A. Joseph Duffy works in Dykema’s Bloomfield Hills office as a member of the Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group.  His practice focuses on construction law, antitrust litigation, and complex commercial disputes.

In his antitrust practice, Joseph works with clients to advise them about how they can best meet their business needs and stay on the right side of law. When the need for litigation arises, his understanding of antitrust laws, and the markets in which clients operate, help him obtain favorable resolutions.

When it comes to construction law, Joseph represents and advises design professionals, contractors, and owners in a wide range of matters, including defense and prosecution of claims relating to differing site conditions, construction errors and omissions, construction liens, change order directives, and contract interpretation in connection with public and private construction.

Joseph has litigation experience in state and federal courts on issues ranging from routine debt collection matters to massive class action suits. He has a track record of efficiently delivering exceptional results to clients at all stages of litigation.

While in law school, Joseph distinguished himself inside and outside the classroom. He graduated first in his class and was a member of The Wayne Law Review. He also completed internships for judges on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. A dedicated member of his school’s Mock Trial program, he competed in national competitions sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Before attending law school, Joseph spent several years on the staff of State Representative Tom Cochran. In that role, he advised on policy matters and delivered solutions to constituent problems on a wide range of issues, including licensing and access to public services.
