Alison A. Furtaw
Senior Counsel
Alison Furtaw, senior counsel in Dykema's Bloomfield Hills office, focuses her practice on complex criminal, regulatory, and civil matters. As a former Assistant United States Attorney and Michigan Assistant Attorney General, she has extensive experience handling matters at the federal, state, and local levels. Before her government service, Alison spent seven years in private practice running her own criminal defense practice law firm.
During her tenure as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan, Alison extensively investigated and prosecuted several complex federal criminal violations. She first worked in the Flint office, where she successfully obtained a guilty verdict in a complex Computer Crimes case involving a high school football scout accused of soliciting his students for inappropriate pictures. She later transferred to the Healthcare Fraud Unit in Detroit where she obtained a guilty verdict against a Shelby Township doctor on all charges of a 20-count indictment related to his involvement in a $6.3 million illegal prescription opioid conspiracy.
