Jovan Dragovic

Senior Counsel

Recognizing that the practice of medicine is inherently intertwined with the business of medicine, Jovan ("Joe") Dragovic delivers a wide range of sophisticated yet actionable guidance to healthcare providers and organizations that allows them to seize opportunities and better serve patients while avoiding compliance problems that could undermine both objectives.

Joe assists his clients with the full spectrum of legal issues that intersect with the business of health care, including transactions, mergers and acquisitions, entity formation and governance, physician and group practice professional services arrangements with other providers, hospitals and health systems, physician and other licensed individual employment agreements, and leasing and subleasing arrangements.

With decades of healthcare industry experience, Joe appreciates the daily pressures, tight margins, administrative burdens, and strategic challenges providers face, as well as the interpersonal dynamics that factor into dollars-and-cents decision-making. This informs the pragmatic, business-savvy counsel he provides and how he provides it. Joe works directly and closely with each client to understand their unique legal, financial, and operational circumstances and ways of doing business so he can develop tailored strategies designed to address immediate and long-term concerns in equal measure.

Joe's clients include physicians, physician group practice professional entities, ambulatory surgery centers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, independent diagnostic testing facilities, and other healthcare industry participants. His meticulous attention to detail and immersive knowledge of the complex web of state and federal laws and regulations that govern the healthcare industry allows him to craft approaches and structure deals designed to survive even the strictest compliance scrutiny. When business controversies and disputes arise, Joe leverages his formidable advocacy skills and extensive courtroom experience to find favorable resolutions that spare his clients from the costs, disruption, and uncertainty of protracted litigation.

My goal is to give my clients straightforward, practical guidance that can help them deliver better care and obtain positive business outcomes while sparing them legalese or esoteric discussions that add no value. That is essential for being an effective healthcare lawyer.
