When tough, high-stakes commercial disputes require quick action and forceful advocacy, clients and colleagues alike turn to Kevin Connor. They know what countless opposing counsel have learned – that Kevin's consummate professionalism and appreciation of the human dimensions of business disputes complement rather than contradict his relentless efforts to protect and advance his clients' interests.

Analytical and creative in equal measure, Kevin has extensive and diverse experience handling a broad spectrum of commercial litigation matters, including premises liability defense, class action defense, commercial contract disputes, commercial real estate disputes, torts, data privacy issues, and white-collar criminal cases. A member of Dykema’s construction litigation team, Kevin knew well before going to law school that he wanted to be a trial attorney, and he has since amassed an impressive record of favorable negotiated and adjudicated outcomes.

From intake and analysis through trial and appeal, Kevin handles every phase of litigation with a practical, business-minded approach that appreciates that "victory" arrives at the negotiating table as often as it does in a courtroom. While always prepared to take a matter to the mat, he never allows the process of litigation to obscure the goal of litigation as defined by his clients.

When counseling his clients, Kevin is candid with advice and considerate of the broader strategic bottom line and often personal concerns raised by business disputes. He works closely with each client to ensure they fully understand potential and likely outcomes so they can make informed, collaborative decisions rather than have choices made for them.

As part of his extensive litigation practice, Kevin has experience handling disputes related to data privacy matters. He has helped clients respond to data breaches and guided them through the fallout that follows, including defending them in class action data privacy disputes and claims relating to alleged violations of consumer privacy statutes such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

Kevin strongly believes that attorneys have an obligation to use their knowledge and skills to serve, and maintains a robust pro bono practice. He has represented clients in asylum cases, criminal matters, civil rights cases, guardianship cases, records expungement petitions, and represents the elderly and disadvantaged in contract disputes. Before rejoining Dykema, Kevin worked at a nonprofit on Chicago's West Side, providing counseling and legal services to young people from one of Chicago's most distressed neighborhoods. He is also a member of the Diversity Awareness Committee in Dykema's Chicago office.

Kevin's commitment to service predates his practice. While in law school, Kevin served as a Lefkow Fellow at the Legal Assistance Foundation in Chicago and externed at the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He also worked at the MacArthur Justice Center on class-action civil rights cases for prisoners and spent his third year of law school in Northwestern's Juvenile Justice Clinic, where he was a criminal justice advocate for young people.

Uncertainty, risk, and the potential for disruption are all inherent parts of business disputes. Providing my clients with clarity and a frank, realistic assessment of those aspects of litigation is as important as zealous, effective advocacy when it comes to protecting and serving their interests.
