Maria McIntyre is a litigation attorney based in Dykema’s Austin and Dallas offices, where she focuses her practice on business and commercial litigation. Maria represents a diverse range of clients, including dental service organizations, insurance companies, and businesses in the oil and gas and digital marketing sectors. Her practice encompasses disputes involving breach of contract, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duty, as well as insurance defense and property disputes.

Maria’s litigation experience is complemented by her time on the firm’s dental service organization transactional team, where she gained valuable insight into deal structuring and the drafting of complex contracts. This unique combination of skills enhances her ability to navigate the intersections of business transactions and litigation, offering clients practical and comprehensive solutions.

In trial, Maria has successfully second-chaired jury and bench trials in both state and federal courts. Her courtroom experience includes arguing motions, conducting witness examinations, and delivering persuasive opening and closing statements. She has secured favorable outcomes for clients, including take-nothing judgments, injunctive relief, and favorable settlements in high-stakes litigation.

Committed to collaboration, Maria works closely with clients to align legal strategies with their business objectives, while simplifying complex legal issues to facilitate informed decision-making. Her ability to distill intricate legal matters into actionable insights is a hallmark of her practice.

Outside of her practice, Maria is dedicated to giving back to the legal community. She participates in Baylor University School of Law’s annual “Confessions of a Business Litigator” program, where she shares her experiences as a litigator with future lawyers. Additionally, Maria has been recognized for her pro bono contributions, including her work with the Animal Legal Defense Fund to protect endangered animals under the Endangered Species Act.

Maria earned her J.D. from Baylor University School of Law, where she excelled in the school’s renowned litigation program. She competed in multiple interscholastic moot court and mock trial competitions, secured a victory for her team in the Regional Championship of AAJ’s 2019 Mock Trial Competition, and earned the prestigious Order of the Barristers distinction along with numerous other awards including, the Ty Drury Excellence in Mock Trial Award, Harrison Davis Steakley Morrison, P.C. Advocacy Award, Claude Williams Advocacy Award, and Bob & Karen Fall Practice Court Mock Trial Award. Prior to law school, Maria earned her M.B.A. from Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland, where she specialized in project risk management.

In her spare time, Maria enjoys cooking Italian cuisine, practicing yoga, and spending time with her family, husband, and miniature schnauzer, Snack.
