Nathan A. Guest

Senior Counsel

Thriving in the crucible of the courtroom, where his confident, strategic advocacy lays the foundation for consistently favorable outcomes, Nathan Guest defends manufacturers, transportation companies, and other businesses against catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and tort claims.

Protecting his clients' interests in high-stakes litigation requires not only a mastery of the law but also an intuitive understanding of how juries and judges approach these challenging cases. Nathan's ability to make connections, build trust and credibility, and bring clarity to complexity help him overcome the unconscious biases or sympathies that can often create inherent disadvantages for defendants in the product liability, consumer class actions, and other tort claims he handles. His lengthy record of defense verdicts and advantageous settlements speak to both his effectiveness and passion for his work.

From the moment a matter reaches his desk, Nathan begins to develop holistic case approaches that consider the smallest details as well as the larger business, financial, and reputational implications for his clients. Recognizing their internal pressures and priorities, Nathan provides clients with the information they need to make informed decisions while sparing them from esoteric discussions of the law or other digressions that add little value. He knows the difference between issues that are potentially case-determinative and worth a fight and those that are tangential and a waste of his clients' time and money. Coupled with his persuasive trial advocacy, this sensitivity to client needs, transparency, and appreciation of the stakes has made Nathan a sought-after and valued partner for the businesses he represents.

Prior to joining Dykema, Nathan practiced at an international law firm and was an Assistant Attorney General for the District of Columbia.

Focus is an essential element of success in litigation, but it needs to extend beyond just the facts and the law of a case. A good advocate also needs to focus on what matters to those on the bench, in the jury box, and in their client's offices.
