Associate


Phillip Short is an associate in Dykema's Business Litigation and Privacy and Data Security groups. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Phillip effectively assists public and private companies reduce their data privacy and cybersecurity risks and exposures.

Phillip has extensive experience analyzing and negotiating data protection agreements, business associate agreements, vendor contracts, and professional services agreements. Phillip also has experience, in both state and federal court, representing clients in business and commercial litigation, including commercial contract disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, and professional liability.

Phillip is known for his responsiveness and commitment to client service. He brings his multidisciplinary background to help clients navigate the rapidly expanding regulatory requirements for pre-breach cyber security, post-breach response as well as business practices involving the collection and use of consumer information.

Prior to joining Dykema, Phillip served as counsel at a national accounting firm, where he reviewed and negotiated professional services and technology-related agreements for the firm. Prior to that role, he was an associate at a Chicago-based litigation firm. Prior to attending law school, Phillip served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 2011 to 2015.
