Ryan J. VanOver

Senior Attorney


Ryan J. VanOver is an attorney primarily based out of Dykema’s Detroit Office. Ryan focuses his practice on financial services litigation, but his services are available for all general litigation matters.

Ryan was a Fellows Scholar at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where he graduated magna cum laude earning a Juris Doctorate degree. During his time in Law School, Ryan was a Summer Intern for the Honorable Judge George Caram Steeh at the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan during which time he earned the prestigious Mark A. Miller Memorial Fund Scholarship. Ryan also earned a Bachelor of Arts from Kenyon College with a major in Political Science. Ryan also studied international politics for a semester at the University of Essex in Colchester, UK.  

Prior to joining Dykema, Ryan had a successful career in the entertainment industry as a singer, songwriter, musician, and business manager under the name “Ty Stone.” As an artist, Ryan was signed to Kid Rock’s Top Dog record label, Atlantic Records, and Warner Nashville. Ryan has extensive experience in all aspects of the music industry including songwriting, publishing, copyright, artist management, tour management, event booking and planning, and contract negotiation. Ryan’s legal interests include entertainment, media, and sports law, copyright, biometrics, product liability, labor and employment, aviation and aerospace, government policies, and drone law. Ryan’s articles on drone law have been published in the Detroit Free Press and the University of Detroit Mercy Law Review Journal.
