Tara S. Kern

Experienced in managing a broad range of litigation matters, Tara is considered a go-to litigator by companies in a wide array of industries. Her practice includes commercial disputes involving disagreements over mineral rights and contracts and first- and third-party insurance defense, specifically for violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and violations of the Texas Insurance Code Chapter 541 and 542. She is also adept in handling tort actions, premises liability, commercial liability, and construction liability matters. Tara also has experience defending complex, multi-party tort actions against professional sports teams and electric utility providers throughout Texas.

Further, Tara has experience defending corporations in appellate matters pending before the Third Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court. Specifically, Tara was lead appellate counsel and fully briefed arguments in a case regarding the special appearance of a nonresident corporation before the Texas Supreme Court: See: Frank Luciano and Helene Luciano v. SprayFoamPolymers.com, LLC, Cause No. 18-0350 (oral arguments heard 1/8/2020).

Additionally, during law school, Tara was a member of the Texas Tech University School of Law’s Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal where she wrote an article on equitable adoption in Texas that was published in Volume 7 of the Journal and received the Second Year Comment Award, which is awarded to the member who wrote the overall best article on the Journal. She also participated in Texas Tech University School of Law’s Regional Externship Program where she clerked at NorthWest Legal Aid in Fort Worth, Texas and received a distinction designation for her participation.
