James Brandell is a highly experienced government relations professional who brings over two decades of political and public policy expertise to Dykema. He leads the firm's federal government relations team, providing strategic counsel and advocacy to clients navigating the complexities of Congress.

James is known for his ability to effectively advance client priorities through the legislative process, leveraging his deep understanding of policy and strong bipartisan relationships. His expertise spans a range of critical areas, including tax, international trade, financial services, and retirement security.

Prior to joining Dykema in 2015, James served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Dave Camp (R-MI), the former Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. This experience, coupled with previous senior roles in state government and international organizations, provides him with unique insights into the legislative process and the dynamics of Washington, D.C.

He has been named a "Top Lobbyist" by The Hill and the National Institute for Lobbying and Ethics. He is also involved in numerous charitable efforts, including serving on the board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Washington, D.C.
